God's Perfect Timing
“God is rarely early and never late.”
We have heard this statement often in the church and say a hearty “Amen.”
Until…
Suddenly the job we have had for 20 years is gone and we don’t know what to do.
May be your teenage child is veering off the straight and narrow path.
Maybe your marriage seems to be in a nosedive that can’t be recovered.
May be you can’t seem to recover from that simple surgery.
It is during this time that we dig into the Word and see what God has to say on this subject.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6
This scripture is one that I have clung to over the years and has helped me to
realize that I can’t trust my understanding on any subject but must trust God.
God’s timing is perfect and He works all things out in His way and in His time
according to His Word. Below are three things to remember during tough times.
God’s way
He has a plan and purpose for each of our lives with our good in mind. But He brings these plans about in His way. He directs our paths. Meanwhile
whatever we do nothing will happen. We will end up in frustration and discouragement. God said to Jonah to go to Nineveh. But he did not listen to
God and chose his own way. Everything happened bad to him. Finally God caught him back and showed the way he has to go. So we have to wait till
we find out his way.
God’s time
Only God see time from beginning to end. He is the only one who knows what perfect timing is. He sees everything that has been, that is and that will
be in each persons life. While he weaves our life it may be pains taken but that is for our benefit. In the marriage of Cana, the wine was over and Gods
Mum wanted Jesus to get the wine. But Jesus initially told that his time did not come. Finally when the time came there was plenty of wine. We may ask
less but may be God wants to give more to us. So we have to be patient for his timing.
God’s Word
Everything must line up with the Word of God. God speaks promises through His Word. If he promises something then he will not get back from it. Do
you remember the promise made to Abraham by God. Abraham stood on the Word of God and he saw his generations in the number more than the
stars in the sky. So we should line our circumstances up with His word and trust Him.
What do we do during the wait? Do we sit passively and wish for better days? Do we moan and complain to anyone and everyone who will listen? The Word of God links waiting with earnest expectations. We share everything in our life with Father God, not forgetting our sins and weaknesses, repent, remain teachable and stand on His Word in prayer. He gives us peace that passes understanding as we take everything to Him. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom and teaches us what is our part to play in the situation and Jesus intercedes for us continually. What could be better than that? God’s timing is always perfect. Look to Him!
“Arise; shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon
you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth and deep darkness the
people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1-2
