A Beautiful Heart
I stood
and watched so helplessly,
As a man fell down on Calvary.
His mother cried as she wiped his tears;
Reflective thoughts took her through the years.
He spoke to God every step of the way,
Knowing oh, so well, the price he’d pay.
His broken body was what many saw,
But his beautiful heart made me stand in awe.
I stood and watched so helplessly,
As a man was suffering on Calvary.
The nails had pierced his once strong hands;
A sacrifice that only he understands.
A cross they chose would seal his fate,
As so many people would watch and wait.
He endured it all and at the bitter end,
See the beautiful heart of a loving friend.
I stood and watched so helplessly,
As his body hung on Calvary.
His Father’s heart was broke in two,
And the angels cried as the darkness grew.
Jesus rose again and he walked this earth,
And his grace remains to show you your worth.
His love will stay, never to depart…
There upon the cross is a beautiful heart.
